Updates Galore!

Wow, I have a lot to fill you in on since February. Let's see, I will start with the kids.

Cody: In the end of February he was one of the leads in his High School musical, Guy's and Dolls, as Mr. NicelyNicely. Here is the link to my favorite song that he sang - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWvpU5WwPtw&feature=related - The show was fabulous! Cody also placed high enough in the District solo festival this year to go to the State Solo festival again this year. He did fabulous! He also tried out for and was one of 14 students (out of 300 that tried out according to Cody)chosen to attend the Idaho State University's Summer Youth Opera. He worked hard and the performance was fantastic! Cody wants to attend Idaho State University, so this was a great opportunity for him to make contacts with the music professors there. Cody seemed loved by them all. WE couldn't be more proud of his accomplishments. He turned 18 years old on May 30th...I wanted to cry! He will be a senior next year and I hate the thought of him leaving, seems like just yesterday he was my baby boy! Cody has been struggling trying to find a job, but was successful at landing a teenage boys dream job...he works at our local water park, Roaring Springs. He loves it and if he does a good job, he will automatically be given a job next summer.

Kathyn: We spent almost every other weekend sitting in the bleachers cheering Kathyn and her team during the club volleyball season. It is sooo much fun watching her play. Her team even played the National team of another club and Kathyn stuffed a ball right back at a player trying to stuff her with it. Needless to say the National team was stunned! A comment that was overheard was "boy for a small girl, she sure can jump!" Kathyn has grown some, I think she is now 5'3" which thrills her to no end. The most exciting thing for Kathyn in the last few months is she attended and passed with A's drivers education training. I had my first drive with her yesterday...have to admit, I was a little frightened, but she actually did pretty well, we only almost his a truck and only almost ran off the road once. With more practice I'm sure she will be a great driver. Plus we won't let her get her license until she is 16. Now she is attending Volleyball camps like crazy gearing up for the High school tryouts. Oh and she is driving Steve and Cody crazy!

Steve: Unfortunately, Steve was laid off from Micron in March and with the job market the way it is, has been unsuccessful at securing a new job. He had been going to school part time and will have his Associates degree if all goes well in December. He is currently weighing his options on going back to school full time. He wants to become a high school history teacher. I have to say it is nice having him home with the kids during the summer break. The house stays nice and clean and since Steve is such a great cook, we always have yummy dinners at night! I do think he is getting bored and is looking forward to finding a job or starting classes in August!!!

Susan: I took this summer off from taking classes and my work at CWI has been overwhelmingly busy!! I've been working anywhere from 60-75 hrs a week so haven't had much time for fun or relaxing. The best news is we have started bulking up our staff and I should be able to start working less hours soon!! I'm so ready for that! In March I went to a International Educators conference in LA. That was quite the adventure. I also got to visit with my friend Laura Henschen while I was there as she lives just 2 hrs away and came to see me. Unfortunately while there, I found out my Grandma Ruth has passed away. It has been a very sad time for me. I am headed out next week to Oklahoma City, OK for a VA conference. I'm excited to go, but not looking forward to the heat and humiditiy! Other than going to the kid's activities that is about as exciting as my life as been.

SO....Now I hope to be better about keeping my blog up to date!!!
